Critical Challenges for Spatiallytemporally-realistic Cell Modeling Packages

Workshop dates: October 2-3, 2013

MMBioS  organized an invitation-only research workshop on critical challenges for spatiotemporally-realistic cell modeling packages.

The goal of this workshop was to bring together a core group of scientists representing some of the leading cell modeling packages to brainstorm and work towards a community consensus. Topics included methods for representing and exchanging cell geometries, methods for simulation of spatiotemporally-realistic compartmental models with movable boundaries, and coupling of image analysis and simulation. Goals included better software interoperability and also community-wide approaches for model and data description as well as algorithm/method verification. We also plan to use this workshop to develop an agenda for a future research workshop on similar topics that will be open to a wider range of the community.
